A big shout out to the cycling group that set out on Saturday morning, May 25th, for the annual ‘Tour de York House’ Bike Ride.

These 13 hardy souls rode 21 miles from York House Holiday Park to Dalton, Topcliffe, Busby Stoop, Sand Hutton, Breckenbrough, Thirsk, Sowerby and back to York House.

Thanks to Andy and Sue, Graham, Andy, Kevin, John, Graeme, Loz, John, Chris and Gary and his 2 pals from Old Hall Holiday Park who after the ride cycled all the way back to Old Hall.

That evening we had our annual Race Night, which sold out many weeks ago. It was a fantastic night with everyone getting into the spirit. Some had dressed up for the occasion while others enjoyed the forfeits of alcoholic shots a little too much!

This year we introduced an auction where on the last race we auctioned off the 8 horses before the race, with the winning horse collecting half the pot of money raised and the rest going to charity.

We raised an amazing total auction pot of £340 and to top it off, the winner used his half of the pot to buy one of the alcoholic shots – thank you John!

In total from the bike ride and race night we raised a fantastic £570 for our chosen charity Herriot Hospice Homecare Thirsk.

The two events are part of a range of summer activity within our wonderful York House, Abbots Green and Monk Park community. This also included a fantastic sports day, also in aid of Herriot Hospice Homecare.

Our community gathered together with residents of our local village of Balk for a day filled with friendly competition and activities for all ages. It featured a football match which raised an amazing £1,289.

Thank you so much to everyone for their support!
Thanks also to the hard work of Ellie, Loz, and their dedicated helpers. A huge round of applause, too, to one of our owners, Karen, who also raised a significant amount for Macmillan Cancer. Well done to all involved!
