A warm welcome to our newest holiday caravan owners at York House Holiday Park!

Lynn and Duncan and their dog Olley took the keys to their new Swift Moselle caravan recently and are looking forward to many visits to enjoy their ‘happy place’.

The couple, from North Shields, began their York House journey back in March, when they visited the Yorkshire Motorhome & Campervan Show in Harrogate. They had initially been looking to upgrade their motorhome to a Coachman Travel Master, but their plans changed when they discovered it would cost a lot more than anticipated.

Thankfully, they happened to come across the York House Leisure stand and were impressed by what was on offer. During their motorhome travels, they had seen some lodges and caravans at other parks and had holiday home ownership in the back of their minds for a few years down the line. But the ample plot sizes at York House Holiday Park piqued their interest as they’d only seen parks before where the homes were in regimented, close-together lines.

They popped into the Victory Stonewood that we had on display at the show and began to wonder about selling their motorhome altogether and buying a holiday home instead. A long chat with our director, Phil, about holiday caravan ownership and the YHL values cemented the idea in their heads and they were keen to find out more.

The perfect holiday caravan

Although our Open Weekend wasn’t far away, Lynn and Duncan wanted to get cracking and visit the park as soon as possible to see if it would work for them. They were so keen to see the park that they asked to visit that same day!

They called into York House Holiday Park and met up with John, who gave them a guided tour. Lynn and Duncan loved the feeling of space around the holiday caravans, and how well-maintained and peaceful the park was.

John also spent time discovering what their requirements were for their holiday home. He then picked out a few units for them to view.

Lynn and Duncan loved the Swift Moselle as it ticked all their boxes, but they wanted to mull it over, so made an appointment to revisit the park again a couple of days later.

When they returned, their first port of call was to view the Swift Moselle again and, with their hearts set on it, John then showed them a couple of available plots where it could be sited.

One of these was on The Oaks with views over to Sutton Bank and the gliding club. It was perfect for them.

Lynn and dog Olley admire the views towards Sutton Bank.

After a delicious lunch at the Old Barn Coffee shop, Lynn and Duncan confirmed their preferred plot, paid their deposit, and agreed a date for the handover of their very own holiday home.

Exploring North Yorkshire

They said: “Buying our holiday home has been very straightforward. We were made to feel welcome, with no hard sales talk and time to look around and check over the holiday homes ourselves. This gave us the chance to chat through things at our own pace. We didn’t feel pressured, and everyone we met was informative and friendly, which made us feel at ease.”

They are now looking forward to using their holiday home on a regular basis and enjoying what this beautiful area of North Yorkshire has to offer. Lynn and Duncan are both recently retired, Lynn from her job as a long distance lorry driver and Duncan as a bus depot engineer, so they will be making the most of their extra leisure time at York House.

As a keen walker, Lynn is also looking forward to hitting the trails around the park and exploring the surrounding countryside with Olley, before finishing off their walks with a well-earned coffee, cake and doggy ice cream in the Old Barn Coffee Shop.

We wish Lynn, Duncan and Olley many happy times at York House Holiday Park and are sure that our friendly community will make them feel very welcome.
