Our five holiday parks in North Yorkshire each have their own unique character as well as having many things in common.

In our new blog series, we’ll be taking a closer look at each one to find out what makes them so special in their own way.

But here, we’ll be kicking the series off with a look at the shared elements of all our holiday parks. At their core is York House Leisure’s ethos of providing the very best experience for all our guests.

So here are ten things we love about our holiday parks:

1. Our customers

We’ve been welcoming people to our parks for more than 50 years, and it’s what we love the most. From meeting guests for their first stay with us, to welcoming home owners and their families to their ‘happy place’ time and again over the years, we never tire of seeing our customers. They make us laugh, they are considerate to others, they are kind and they are generous. Many have become our friends. We couldn’t ask for more!

2. Our communities

Each of our parks has a close-knit community, and many of our homeowners have made genuine and lifelong friends during their time with us. From looking after their neighbours’ gardens to spending an evening socialising together, everyone in our park communities is friendly and helpful while at the same time being respectful of each other’s privacy and personal space.

And, because our parks are dog and family friendly, we also have a great community of children, grandchildren and canine companions!

3. Year-round events

Each of our parks holds a range of events throughout the year for our guests, including barbecues, family fun-days, Easter egg hunts, Christmas and Halloween parties, art classes, and awards evenings. We also hold inter-park competitions, such as fishing and golf, with many of our events raising funds for local charities too.

4. Rural views

Each of our holiday parks is set within the beautiful North Yorkshire countryside, with our holiday homes laid out in a considered way to make the most of the lovely views. Many of our guests love nothing more than sitting on their veranda, looking out across the countryside and enjoying the peace and tranquillity of the park and its surroundings.

5. The wildlife

The landscaping on our parks has been designed to encourage a range of wildlife, and we’ve won awards for our focus on conservation and the environment.

With wildflower meadows, ample green space, ponds and water features, our parks are havens for a variety of wildlife. We’ve seen bees, butterflies, rabbits, squirrels, stoats, hedgehogs, bats, foxes, chaffinches, sparrows, blackbirds, thrushes, pheasants, swifts, barn owls, ducks, crayfish, bull heads, trout, carp and water voles. A resident pair of moor hen and a succession of chicks have made Abbots Green their home for many years, and the same pond is also visited by Canada geese and herons.

6. Our staff

All our parks have a friendly and helpful team of people who aim to ensure a memorable and relaxing holiday for everyone who stays with us. They are always on hand to provide help or assistance, not to mention a warm welcome when guests arrive!

Our staff genuinely love their jobs and strive for everything to be perfect for our holidaymakers. We encourage feedback and reviews, and address any issues promptly and professionally.

7. Superb homes on spacious pitches

We offer stylish and well-appointed holiday caravans and luxury lodges across our sites. Whether for sale or hire, our holiday homes are kept in immaculate condition, and we regularly review and update our offering to ensure these high standards are maintained.

All our parks are thoughtfully designed to offer privacy and space around every holiday home. Caravans and lodges are positioned to make the most of each plot’s environment and views.

8. Immaculate grounds and facilities

Our grounds team work all year round to ensure our parks always look their best. The green spaces have been developed over the years to provide a carefully considered environment that makes the most of each park’s natural features.

In addition, we continually invest in the facilities on our parks to ensure our guests have everything they need to enjoy their stay with us.

9. 24/7 security

Many of our parks are exclusive gated sites, with a barrier system and managers on hand to ensure our customers feel safe and secure when they are staying with us.

10. Easy access to the best places in North Yorkshire

Country walks, spa days, shopping sprees and family bike rides are just some of the leisure and entertainment activities within reach of our holiday parks.

Our guests can explore our wonderful county’s best places, from bustling towns and cities such as York, Harrogate and Ripon, to the stunning North York Moors and Yorkshire Dales, the thrills of Lightwater Valley and Flamingoland theme parks, the rugged coastline, and fantastic beaches such as Runswick Bay, recently named the best beach in the UK.

Each park also has great links with its local community, with guests able to make the most of nearby farm shops, pubs, restaurants and other amenities.
