With the fantastic news last week that our holiday parks across North Yorkshire have re-opened following the second national lockdown, we thought it was time for another blog in our series looking at the things we love about our parks.
This time, we turn the spotlight on Abbots Green, a tranquil, gated site of just 36 luxury holiday lodges near Thirsk.
Peaceful setting with wonderful views
Our guests can really get away from it all and feel completely relaxed when they stay at Abbots Green. The wooden lodges are nestled in a tranquil area set away from the neighbouring York House Holiday Park, and each one offers views either of the pond and hill behind or of the Sutton bank hills and beyond.
In addition, most of our lodges have sunny open aspects – perfect for those long summer evenings.
Fantastic facilities and on-site café
Although a separate gated development, Abbots Green is part of the adjacent York House Holiday Park and, as such, homeowners and guests have access to all the on-site facilities, including the Old Barn Coffee Shop. This award-winning café serves homemade dishes, snacks and treats made from locally-sourced ingredients. It’s also a popular place to visit for Sunday lunch and afternoon tea, and has garnered a wealth of five star reviews, leading Tripadvisor to name the Old Barn a 2020 Travellers’ Choice award winner.
Immaculate gardens and grounds
The gardens of all our lodges, along with the park grounds, are maintained by our in-house team, meaning our owners can enjoy their free time without needing to think about tending to their flowerbeds or mowing the lawn.
Wonderful wildlife
All our parks are thoughtfully designed to promote biodiversity and encourage wildlife, and Abbots Green is no exception. In fact, along with York House, Abbots Green has been awarded David Bellamy Gold Award for wildlife conservation every year for more than 15 years.
Its water and plant features attract a wide range of animals, including some visiting moorhen who have been returning to the site for eight years, each time with a new brood in tow.
Great location for exploring North Yorkshire
Abbots Green Luxury Lodges are just four miles from the market town of Thirsk, within sight of the famous White Horse at Kilburn.
The park offers an ideal base from which to explore the superb North Yorkshire countryside and enjoy the range of leisure opportunities on offer. Within an hour’s drive from the park are the East Coast, the North York Moors and the Yorkshire Dales, as well as towns and cities such as York, Harrogate and Knaresborough.
