How the Visit England rating system works
Tourism businesses are assessed by Visit England against an agreed set of quality standards. A Visit England accreditation shows that the business has been independently verified by the National Tourist Board.
Visit England’s assessors evaluate all aspects of the accommodation and service against the organisation’s tourism standards, giving a quality score for each one. The total of these individual scores is then used to calculate the overall quality score. This is then translated into an overall quality rating. An overall score of 87% or above is required to achieve a Five Star rating.
